The COLLIDE Project...

Technology Overview

The technology for COLLIDE comprises a glove controller and its accompanying interfaces (see The Glove Project), along with three Macintosh computers: one for audio (running MAX/MSP), one for video (running Onadime), and another for mapping messages between the first two computers. Overall, the system schematic for COLLIDE looks something like this:




In addition to the glove controller, you can see by the above schematic that I also use an infrared device, which I control with my left hand. (The current glove system includes only one data glove, worn on the right hand; my new REV2 system will use two gloves.) The infrared controller is the “Dimension Beam” formerly made by Interactive Light:
