The name gAMBIT derives from a concatenation of “gesture” + “ambit”.
ambit: an area within which something or someone exists, acts, or has influence or power.
The new system is actually much more than a glove controller: new sensor technologies (including accelerometers, spatial locators, flex sensors, and FSRs) make the two gloves far more sensitive to various finger, hand, arm and full body gestures. This sensitivity is enhanced by the fact that gAMBIT is completely wireless, incorporating custom-designed wireless technology. In addition, a separate wireless ball controller is incorporated into the system (see the animation, as well as video examples online of COLLIDE).
